Emergency Relief

Our Emergency Relief program assists several thousand local individuals and families each year through the pressures of everyday living, financial hardships, or the stress of a crisis situation.

We provide support to those in need in the form of food, financial assistance, advocacy, household goods and clothing. UnitingCare Bendigo also operates educational programs for clients such as education assistance and cooking to help learn skills that can get them back on track.

People are in need all year round, however a particularly difficult time for many is the Christmas and holiday period. During this time, we run our annual 10-day Christmas Gift Giving Program. Each year we distribute hundreds of gifts to families and children that otherwise would not be able to afford any. These gifts have been kindly donated by individuals, Church groups, Community groups, local businesses and in partnership with the Share ‘Operation Santa’ Target Appeal and provide immense joy for the recipients.
